Local Pooch Makes Good

Reported by The Laguna Beach Independent, Feb. 14, 2011

Laguna Beach resident Susan Lacroix’s champion female bloodhound, Quiet Creek’s Kiss And Tell (co-owned with Heather Whitcomb), won best of breed yesterday at the 135th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. If she wins best of the hound group, which includes hounds from Dachshunds to Whippets to Irish Wolfhounds, she has a shot at the best in show competition, which will take place Tuesday evening, Feb. 15.

Lacroix is no stranger to the winner’s circle at America’s premier dog show. Her champion female Quiet Creek’s Mi Amour, co-owned with Evelyn Jones, won best of breed for two years straight, in 2008 and 2009, and was recognized by then mayor Kelly Boyd in 2009.

The last time a bloodhound won the best of the hound group at the prestigious show was in 2005. To date, a bloodhound has not yet won best in show at Westminster. To follow show results, visit the site westminsterkennelclub.org.
